Most of us are paid to solve problems. As we solve problems, we call upon a variety of cognitive skills to define the problem, generate ideas to solve it, and figure out how to carry out the best idea. Somewhere along the way our intuition steps in. Even when we want to be rational our gut guides us every step of the way. We choose to analyze (or ignore) options, to consult some people and pay less attention to others, to collect more data in one area than in another.
