There are many programs and buildings that offer housing, food and health services to the residents of Skid Row in Los Angeles. We partnered with an organization to have a workshop there. They were so enthusiastic for their members. Many people who showed up thanked me for coming to help. After my introduction they all understood the importance of getting screened and also what research was being done for memory. I even had 2 military vets that spoke about us doing this in partnership with the VA. There are barriers of course going into these areas but nowhere else is a community so willing and open to listening and learning if you are there to help them.
